I fished it the HIBT one more time in 1978 along with Sanbo, Vince Gorrilla, and Hubert Crosby. Vince got the 413 pound Blue Marlin and later a Spearfish and Sanbo a nice Striped Marlin. I got bit on a jig just 5 miles out of Kailua harbor by a rather large fish estimated in excess of 500 pounds. The thing broke surface at the beginning showing its small dorsal atop a rather large body, but never showed again. It just kept swimming in a straight line pulling like mad until after 1 hour it must have turned and a bill-wrapped lure simply fell off.
